About Us

Somalia Equality and Human Rights Organization (SEHRO) is a non-governmental, non-political organization dedicated to advancing and protecting human rights in Somalia. At SEHRO, we believe in putting humanity first by advocating for democracy, the rule of law, and justice in every sphere of life. Our work focuses on promoting civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights, ensuring that every individual in Somalia enjoys the fundamental rights they deserve.

We envision a society where equality, fairness, and dignity are the cornerstones of everyday life. Our commitment extends to protecting vulnerable and marginalized groups, empowering people through education and advocacy, and fostering an inclusive environment free from discrimination.

Mission

To promote and protect of civil and political rights as well as to promote economic, social and cultural rights and trade union rights. we secure and empower the rights of people, eliminate discrimination, investigate human rights abuses and pressure those with power to respect rights and secure justice.

AIMS

AIMS

Our advocacy efforts focus on raising awareness of the challenges facing human rights defenders and marginalized communities in Somalia. SEHRO is committed to the following advocacy initiatives:

  • Women’s Rights: We campaign for equal access to education, healthcare, and employment for women and girls across Somalia. Empowering women is crucial to building a just and prosperous society.
  • Minority Rights: SEHRO advocates for the protection of minority groups, ensuring that their voices are heard and that they are protected from discrimination and violence.
  • Freedom of the Press: We stand for the freedom of the press, encouraging an open and transparent media environment that can hold those in power accountable.
  • Environmental Justice: In response to the growing challenges posed by climate change, we advocate for environmentally sound policies and practices that protect both people and the planet.
  • Fighting Corruption: Corruption is a barrier to justice and human rights. We actively expose corrupt practices and work with civil society and the media to promote transparency and accountability.

Our Approach

SEHRO adopts a multifaceted approach to human rights protection and promotion in Somalia:

  1. Monitoring and Reporting: We investigate human rights abuses and bring them to the attention of the public, pressuring those in power to act.
  2. Capacity Building: We work with local communities, empowering them with the knowledge and tools to stand up for their rights and advocate for justice.
  3. Collaborating with Partners: SEHRO partners with local, regional, and international organizations to amplify our impact and secure justice for the people of Somalia.
  4. Educational Campaigns: We conduct outreach programs to educate individuals about their rights and the importance of upholding human dignity in all walks of life.
  5. Advocacy on Global Platforms: SEHRO represents the human rights interests of Somalia on global platforms, ensuring that the world hears the voices of the people we support.
